FOR PROFESSIONALS

Despite conventional ideas and taboos, mental health problems and addictions can and do happen to every type of person. Professionals and church leaders can battle these common issues as well. Mental illness and addiction can actually affect professionals and church leaders to a greater degree than most would imagine. The consequences of not seeking help for people in these roles can not only be personally and professional devastating—they can also have far-reaching consequences for the Christian faith. This secret weight of pressure is too often more than many can handle or is more than what they signed up for when they answered the call or chose a profession. There is intense pressure of needing to be “perfect,” of having it all together, or of performing for others. There are also accompanying fears of the fallout of revealing the extent of personal struggles, creating a vicious cycle of secrecy, shame, and further abuse or mental health deterioration.

What will people think of me? Will I lose my job? People will not trust me anymore. I will be abandoned when I need support the most.

These concerns are very real and often prevent those who are struggling the most from getting the help that they need. To the professionals and church leaders: Get help before a scandal, gain control of areas of your life before dirt is revealed, or seek the qualified support that you need before you act out of desperation and harm yourself.

Lithos is the place for people just like you because of our mission, professionalism and qualification, and absolute confidentiality. We have worked with professionals and church leaders to get to the root of mental health issues and addiction prior to things boiling over by taking some or all of the following steps below:

  • Individual counseling
  • Crafting safeguards and mechanisms to prevent personal, public, and faith catastrophes
  • When necessary, advocated for and supported individuals when additional church leaders or elders were needed
  • Given talks to leadership to provide psycho-education about mental health, addiction, and faith
  • Made appropriate referrals to inpatient facilities which respect and utilize faith

Call our office to discuss how we can discretely support you during this difficult time.
